My Switch SNES controllers arrived yesterday. They're pretty awesome. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that the Classic SNES controllers have the screws in different places and it feels a bit weird haha.

Bought Witcher on Switch. Surprised at how well it all runs, but it makes me Switch really hot.

I finished Luigi's Mansion 3 over the weekend. It was a good game but I felt the last quarter wasn't as good as it could be, especially the last powerup for the vacuum that you get that I only used in one spot. It seemed like that was added in just to put in another mission to find a part.

I also bought Luigi's Mansion 3. Now to let it sit on my shelf for a couple years before I eventually play it.

I finished this and I have to agree. The forced backtracking with the Cat thing is annoying and doesn't add anything to the game.

I have also finished Luigi's Mansion 3 and collected all the gems and boos (but not rare ghosts) and I think I'm done with it now.

I miss the one big mansion from the original game. You sort of get that with this game, but with several levels having weird ass themes like a pirate ship, desert and medieval it feels more like a bunch of random levels rather than one cohesive building. It would have been nice if different floors connected to each other in ways other than the elevator so it would feel like one giant building.

Now I'm onto Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order - finally a new release game I'm interested in to test out my new gaming PC

I bought Witcher 3 on Switch because it was ~$55 on the eshop and I had ~$54 in credit as well as $2 of gold points.

It looks pretty nice in portable mode, but looks like a Gamecube game on tv (well not that bad but the lower resolution is pretty noticeable) - but luckily I mostly play Switch in portable mode so it should give me something to play on the train for the next 6 months. I've never played a Witcher game even though I have the first 2 in my Steam library, I've just never gotten to them. It seems pretty good so far though.

I find its better to play on Switch because it's so quick to wake from suspend. It takes forever to load on every platform so having it able to be started instantly speeds it up.

I didn't know these were available and now they are out of stock. I have the NES ones so hopefully I can get these later.

Do you want one? I bought 4 thinking it'd be great to have 4, but I only ever use 1. The other 3 are still boxed.

I also downloaded the Epic launcher today for a free game, downloaded Darksiders Warmastered Edition to see if the dang problems I'm having with the steam version also happen in the Epic version.

I'll continue to use Steam but keep the Epic store launcher around for any games that never make it to Steam. I just really don't like the tactics Epic are using. While good for customers in the short term they just feel icky to me.

By tactics do you mean the timed exclusives or something else?

I should preface this by saying while I play the odd PC game, I'm very much a physical media person. I want to own the disks for the games I buy because I still don't like what companies are doing around digital rights and how you don't actually own the game, you own a licence for it, which means that I haven't bought a game from Steam for years and I never have from Epic, which means my views are very skewed towards what happens in the console space.

I was having a debate with someone on FB about the timed exclusives thing. Is it really that big a deal? Consoles have had exclusives for a long time now (it's how they sell consoles) so I guess the whole timed exclusive argument against Epic is a little silly to me, especially when all you have to do is download a new launcher. It's not like you have to buy a whole other console to play the thing.

Steam has never really needed to do timed exclusives because they've been the only major player in town, but Epic needed to do something to gain an advantage over Valve and it seems to be working for them.

There are more substantial arguments about some of the features of the Epic store, which are fair enough, but from what little I've seen, it's improving.

I'm taking advantage of the free games from Epic while I can because once they have a decent market share I can see them either stopping it altogether or locking it behind a pay wall (like Games With Gold on the Xbox).

Eh I'm a sucker for achievements and trophies so by default I prefer Steam over Epic.

The timed exclusives don't really bother me at all. I guess when I reflect on it it's not so much Epic itself I have a problem with, it's that it lays bare the truth of the industry that a better service wasn't going to challenge Steam (e.g. GoG is better than Steam in many ways but isn't serious competition) but instead an already mega profitable company strong-arming their way onto the scene with the purpose of taking away market share without offering a better product.

Plus I fully admit to being lazy and want ALL my entertainment in the one place. I want all the games on Steam, all the TV shows and movies on Netflix, all the streams on Twitch and all the stupid videos made by amateurs on Youtube.

And get rid of Coles and Woolworths while we're at it. I don't want to be thinking something's been discontinued at Woolworths only to find it's been made a Coles exclusive. Just merge them together, I want to shop at Woles.
